Kaltura2 APP

Kaltura2 is an application designed to manage scheduled processes related to videos on the Kaltura platform. It offers features such as re-categorization of recordings, transferring videos to external repositories, and deleting them from Kaltura.

Access and General Overview of the Application

Access to Kaltura2

Access to Kaltura2 can be achieved in two ways:

  • Direct Access: Via an external URL, entering username and password.
  • Access through LMS: Using the LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability) protocol. Access Screen to Kaltura2

Main Interface

Upon accessing Kaltura2, users encounter the application interface, which contains three main tabs:

  • Entries: Where Kaltura videos registered in Kaltura2 are listed.
  • Summary: A general overview and statistics.

Entries Management

Entries View

In the "Entries" section, users can:

  • Search for specific videos.
  • Download a CSV with video data.
  • Print the list of videos.

Filters and Process Creation

Creating Filters

To start a scheduled process, at least one filter must be defined. Kaltura2 offers multiple options such as:

  • ID: Allows selecting videos by their unique identifier in Kaltura.
  • Name: Allows selecting videos by title or name assigned to the video.
  • Partner ID: Allows selecting videos by the unique identifier of the partner associated with the video.
  • Categories: Allows selecting videos by the video's classification in various thematic or content categories. The filter can be configured to exclude categories.
  • Tag: Allows selecting videos by keywords or tags associated with the video. The filter can be configured to exclude tags.
  • Owner: Allows selecting videos by the user or entity that owns the rights or control over the video. The filter can be configured to exclude owners.
  • Creator: Allows selecting videos by the user who has created or uploaded the video to the platform. The filter can be configured to exclude creators.
  • From Date: Selects videos from a specific date.
  • To Date: Selects videos up to a specific date.
  • Duration: Allows selecting videos by their length, expressed in hours, minutes, or seconds.
  • Size: Allows selecting videos by the storage space they occupy. Different units of measure can be chosen.
  • Antiquity: Allows selecting videos by the time elapsed since the video was uploaded to the present.
  • State in Kaltura: Allows selecting videos by the current condition of the video within the Kaltura platform (Available, pending deletion, deleted).
  • State in Repository: Allows selecting videos by their presence in an external repository and their status in that location (non-existent, pending storage, stored, pending deletion, deleted).
  • Metadata: Allows selecting videos by additional information associated with the videos, such as descriptions, author, copyright, etc.
  • Reproductions: Allows selecting videos by the number of times the video has been viewed.
  • Last Playback: Allows selecting videos by the date and time the video was last viewed. Filter Selection in Kaltura2

Creating a Process

After selecting the filters, a process can be created. Multiple filters can be combined to specify the affected videos. Creating a Process in Kaltura2

Process Configuration

In the configuration, the following can be defined:

  • Process Status: Active or Inactive.
  • Description: Details of the process.
  • Type of Process: Allows uploading to a repository, deleting from Kaltura, synchronizing, changing users, reassigning categories.
  • Additional Options: Such as deleting videos from Kaltura after the process, uploading attachments to Kaltura2. Process Configuration in Kaltura2

In the "Processes" view, actions such as the following can be performed:

  • Delete processes.
  • Review the execution history.

This section shows:

  • The latest executions.
  • Date and time of execution.

Summary

The Summary section in Kaltura2 provides a general overview and detailed statistics on managed videos. This summary includes key information about:

  • Total Entries: Total number of video entries registered in the application.

  • Entries in Kaltura: Details of videos currently stored on the Kaltura platform, including:

    • Available: Videos that are active and accessible.
      • Pending Deletion: Videos marked for deletion.
      • Deleted: Videos that have been deleted from the platform.
  • Entries in External Repository: Information about videos that have been transferred to an external repository, covering:

    • Available: Videos present in the external repository.
      • Pending Deletion: Videos in the external repository marked for deletion.
      • Deleted: Videos deleted from the external repository.
  • Used Space: Amount of storage used by videos, both in Kaltura and the external repository. Summary View in Kaltura2
